I can never remember how that rhyme goes. I want to say ‘fair of face’ by I am not sure.

Tonight were having a ‘make your own salad’ dinner for our weekly ChickSoc dinner. Everyone’s bringing some salad items, and we’ll build our own salad and then toss some bacon and/or chicken pieces in it just to take the edge off the rabbit food! Naturally, there’ll also be chocolate and wine. Can’t be too healthy now!

We had a lovely dinner of roasted veggies and borewors last night. J did a potato and beetroot each and some carrots in the oven with garlic, olive oil and rosemary. The smell as it was cooking was divine! Then we went outside and played with sparklers. And I would show you the photos, but I forgot to bring the memory card in. And they were so cool! Oh well. Another time. J also plough through another round of dirty dishes. Both of us are rather tired of washing dishes. I have been browsing for dishwashers and dreaming…it’s something that falls under the category of ‘when I am big’ and ‘when I own my own home’!

This weekend there is no cricket (yay!) so we are actually able to have people round for dinner on Saturday night. We’ve got a lovely kudu fillet which I’m going to do with rosemary and garlic. The venison is quite strong so simple flavours will be best. I am trying to decide on what should accompany it. Any suggestions? I’m going to make bruchetta nibbles for starters, and boozy chocolate cupcakes (see recipe page) for dessert. We’ll also crack open one of our good bottles of wine (and I’ll leave some notes here even though they were definitely more than R50 each!)

For today, I have a bunch of boring day-to-day work that needs to be done. But once it’s done I can clear my desk of the piles of ‘to do’ work that have been here for AGES
