I realise I didn’t blog on Friday, sorry about that. Inspiration was lacking!

I had a pretty good weekend, even thought it was rather busy! On Friday night we had a friend from Zim staying over before he caught a ride to the airport early on Saturday morning. We attempted to braai a chunk of a lovely yellowtail I bought, but a massive thunderstorm rolled around and the water pouring down our built-in braai’s chimney actually put the fire out! We moved inside and cooked the fish and the potatos in the oven. Delicious! I love a hot baked potato drowning in butter and salt.

ON Saturday I was up bright and early. I saw our guest off on his way; and then got ready to go through to East London for a study group for the rapidly approaching Financial Management exam! The drive was a bit crap. Very misty to Peddie and then raining to King William’s Town. I am feeling pretty confident about it so for. I just wish we had more examples to practise with! I’m also super chuffed with myself for actually being organised and to have started revising a full 6 weeks before the exams!

After we finished out session I headed along the coastal road back towards the cricket club where I was supposed to meet up with John. However their cricket got rained out and although they braaiied, the party was all over by 4pm, leaving me to drive all the way back to Grahamstown! 400km round trip. I was knackered when I got home! John made me a delicious chicken wrap for dinner and I had a nice hot bath. I mostly read my book and snoozed on the bed.

Saturday night, disaster! I had been struggling to fall asleep so I decided to listen to a podcast; the talking usually helps me drift off. SO I tucked my phone next to me on the pillow and sure enough I dozed off. A few hours later, the pins and needles in my had woke me up and I realised that I was sleeping on it and my phone. So I tried, with my numb hand, to move my phone from the pillow to my bedside table. But, my numb fingers didn’t have a  great grip on the phone and it slipped…straight into the glass of water next to my bed!! PANIC! My fingers were too numb to get the blasted thing out again and I was just about to throw the whole lot out onto the floor and mop it up later when I managed to get it out. I tried to switch it off immediately but there must’ve been a short because it just switched itself on again! F*)&^&^%$$%** I took the sim out and shoved the whole lot in a bowl of dry rice and placed it near the warm oven. The battery only died last night so….I have no idea how damaged it actually is. I am VERY sad about this. I’ve left it to dry today and I’ll leave it overnight and try again in the morning. Fortunately, it is insured, but still. *sobs*. I don’t have much luck with technology and water! I dropped my camera into water not so long ago!

Still, last night we had home-made sushi from another chunk of the yellowtail. Delicious! We got a lot of sushi for relatively little cash. If the rice weren’t so time consuming and the prep so messy, I’d do it far more often!!

And there you have it, my weekend in a nutshell! Good dry iPhone vibes appreciated!
