Phew this week has kicked my ass. John left to go off to Paarl for a hockey tour, friends from Australia came to visit (haven’t seen them for three years) and the Arts Festival started. As per usual, it’s chaos. no parking, thousands of people, hawkers try to sell you junk, it’s poured with rain, been freezing cold and all I want to do is go home, stay in bed and ignore them all.

By anyway. So, Janet is still doing well-not growing as fast as expected but the smell is still slightly sweet and not off so I figure it’s still ok. I’ve switched over to the once-a-week feed. I haven’t used any of the dough for a bread yet. Maybe this weekend? I dunno.

The home-made biltong was almost a disaster-it’s been so damp and wet I was worried it was going to be mouldy. So I froze it all.

I am totally in love with my slow-cooker. I made an awesome lamb and red wine stew for bookclub last night. So delicious. So Easy. Chopped up some onion, carrots, celery, sweet potato, garlic and some lamb stewing meet. Throw it in the pot. Add red wine. Add a bit more red wine. Maybe a bit more. Lots of chopped rosemary. Leave for 6-8 hours. Enjoy. So good.

This weekend I’m going to try and make a good dent in my assignment. I’m actually really excited about it; management accounting and sustainability. Who is this person I’ve become?! I’m also going to try and get to the Village Green; maybe the gorgeous suede/sheepskin boots will be marked down from their original R700 price tag….

How about all of you?
