If it’s not one thing…it’s another.

Last month I went for my annual check up and my Doc found a funny mass on my right ovary. So he referred me to the gynae. He look another look (yes…that WAS as “fun” day in case you were wondering…WHY can no one invent a warm wand/speculum?!) and declared it to be an ovarian cyst that had burst and bled into the membrane around the ovary.

He said it was nothing to stress about in particular, but he told me last month that he wanted to follow up. So off I went today for the follow up. The blood/fluid has not cleared and so he wants to investigate it via laparoscopy. Tomorrow. In PE. (Yes today has also been a “fun” day).

If it turns out that the fluid/whatever can be removed via key-hole surgery, then I’ll be in and out on Thurs. If he has to operate; I’ll be in hospital (St. Georges, PE) until Sunday at least and then off work for a further 2-4 weeks.

John’ll be with me tomorrow. I’ll be checked in at 12:00; op sometime in the afternoon. Good thoughts, wishes, vibes, prayers (if that’s your thing) much appreciated!

Stupid ovary.

So ja. Can i just skip May and go straight to June?

Update: So the Doc ended up having to cut me open. I had a dermis cyst (if you get squeamish DON’T Google that!!) growing on my right ovary which was too large to remove via the scope. Surgery took about 2h and I’ll be in hospital till Sunday. I’ve had 2 shots of pethadine; which rocks; but otherwise the pain is manageable!

I managed to get out of bed last night already and again this morning unassisted. All in all I’m doing fine. Thanks everyone for the messages and tweets! I really appreciate them all!!
