More about Me

Hi there and thanks for taking a few moments out of you allocated procrastination time to stop by!

So what do you want to know? I’m 27 28 29 30 (!) this year. I live with my two cats, Fluffy and Pepper and my boyfriend  fiancé  husband John. We were married in September 2012.

This is us. Musango, Lake Kariba. Dec 2010

Doing something we love. Sitting on a boat. Fishing, drinking a beer, watching the world go by as the sun sets.

Pepper

Pepper

This is Pepper. She’s my cat. She was a farm cat that a friend of mine begged me to ‘rescue’ so that she wasn’t killed by the farmer (how could I say no?!). I was only supposed to keep her until I could find a home for her…that was um, 6 years ago? I wouldn’t change things for the world!

Fluffy

Fluffy

Fluffy was the third kitten we got. The first two, adopted from the SPCA both died within 2 weeks of mysterious convulsions. Horrible and weird. Fluffy was a bit older when we got her. And she lived at the local Farmer’s Co-Op where her Mum lived in the chemical store. So she’s a little….crazy. Not psycho crazy. She won’t attack you or anything…she’s just nuts. Personally I think her personality is just too big for her little body!

We live in a rented cottage on in Grahamstown, South Africa. (I’ll put up a photos just as soon as I tidy the house a bit to make it cyber-space worthy….don’t hold your breath).

I am originally from Zimbabwe, and my parents still live there. Yes I think they are mad, and yes, they are coping ok. My younger sister, Ashleigh, recently moved to the Western Cape with her fiancé husband Gareth. She’s got a job looking after horses-her passion! He makes hand-crafted knives (Website coming soon!).

I like to cook and I can be quite adventurous in the kitchen (get your mind out of the gutter thankyouverymuch). I particularly enjoy baking. I seldom follow a recipe directly, preferring to see them more as a rough guide.

I registered to do an MBA in 2010. Passed the first year, only 2 more to go! Part time through Rhodes Business School. I am questioning my sanity and missing my free time! Still, 3 years isn’t that long. IS it? 18-ish months to go! Finally finished!

I love to read. Anything. Seriously, at my bedside right now I have a Terry Pratchett, Faye Kellerman, a biography, a magazine and something else I forget what. I am usually reading about 3 different books at any one time. I love books! I’m on GoodReads, Pinterest, Instagram and very occasionally, Twitter.

That’s all I can think of. If YOU have a question, leave me a comment and I’ll update this little blurb with a  reply!

  2. Hi.

She is beautiful as You seem to be.

  3. Very weird how much in common people can have on opposite sides of the world. Also a geocacher. Also working on my MBA. Too bad you’re a cat person instead of a dog person. I almost liked you… Kidding :)

    • That is too weird!! I don’t mind dogs, we just can’t get one at the moment because we don’t have enough time to spend with it! And HOW COOL to find another cacher?! I’ve not found anyone who’s heard of it let alone done it!! :D Whats your favourite cache ever?

  4. Holy Smoke – I can see you AND I can comment. BIG leaps ahead, Ms Tara! Great new cyber-abode here BTW.
    :-)

  5. K, dude. Stupid question. how do you change your header picture in your blog without changing it for like EVERY post you’ve ever written… ?

    • It’s the theme I’m using that allows it. “Coraline” let’s you set a ‘feature image’ for each post but leaves your homepage the same. If you convert when writing your new post loon down the right hand side to where it says ‘set featured image’ load the photo as normal and you’re all set!
(the Twenty10 theme does it too)

  6. THANKS!!!

  7. Holy Crapola! Have you LOOKED at your Cluster map lately!?! *Covet*

  8. Hi Tara!

Your header pic is gorgeous! I grew up in Swartkops – i learned to swim in that river. :) Pity it’s not swimmable anymore.

And I went to Rhodes. I love Grahamstown. Hope you’e loving it too.

Well, just wanted to say hi :)

  9. Hi Tara

Please drop me a line with your postal address – you correctly answered my question on Friday :).

  10. Hi Tara

If you’re serious about working as a rangerdiaries.com intern send your cv anyway, no guiding experience required. Please note though that there is unfortunately no remuneration invlolved.

    Best wishes

  11. Hello Tara, thanks for stopping by my blog today!

We have a lot in common – I’m also ex-Zim, I love to bake and also see recipes as a guide-line, mostly! Funny, when I was first married, *mumble* years ago, I had a little cat named Pee Wee who looked a lot like your Fluffy….now we have 3 crazy dogs named Sheka (you may recognise the word?), Zaza and Zoot. Your blog is great :)
