Naan bread is another recipe that I’ve wanted to try for ages. I usually serve curries with popadoms, but when I saw the fabulous recipe for Murgh Makhani (Butter Chicken) I decided that naan would be the perfect accompaniment. I was a little intimidated; but there was no reason to be. Naan is SO simple to make; especially if you follow this simple step-by-step.
The dough comes together really easily and then it’s a simple case of grilling it in your hot pan or over an open flame. Just watch it like a hawk to make sure it doesn’t get too burnt. It is especially good with a pat of butter hot off the griddle. We served out curry in a big bowl and ate with out fingers. The naan is just stiff enough to use as a spoon. Yum! A definite staple and a great alternative to fried popadoms.
I think these little breads would make fabulous pita-style snacks too. I’m sure they’d taste fabulous stuffed with some shredded lettuce, diced tomato & cucumber with a little pesto. Or even with honey and butter! Go on try them…!
